Have just installed Java from their official website, so it's the latest version, but it fails to open, even after restarting the computer several times and trying to run Java in Firefox.
Please help.

EDIT: ive downloaded the plugin for firefox, it said it had been loaded succesfully, after which the system restarted

i did it by accident and can assure you that it will not be repeated in the near future.

its not too important, i can use the static map, but it just means that java games wont work either.

EDIT:
in about: plugins in the firefox address bar, all the Java applications are enabled, althought the suffixes are empty.
