Is it possible, and would anyone be willing... To make a plugin, that changes the icons of people in the contact list (currently shows their DP/MSN guy), to a custom picture of your chosing for each person... Just to make it look more friendly and frankly, the DP display on the contact list makes it look very cluttered and messy...

Ive reshacked it to make the MSN guy look a little nicer, but would be great in my opinion to have custom pics for each person

I suppose there is, but then again might not. Because It might overload the msn's protocol(or whatever you call it ) Plus you'd have to mess with msn's protocolls. Which i dont think you can do.

you wouldnt have to use the protocol, you could choose a picture for each user and save the image locally

Thanks for the replies Yeah thats what I was thinking, just a matter of getting messenger to place a local image from hard drive there instead of the default ones...

But I don't know the plugin sdk to know if its possible, and if not the messenger api either for that matter lol... And then id need someone to make it i guess lol

So no one can tell me if it is actually possible? I take it no one wants to make it but at least if someone can tell me if it IS actually possibly i could try to learn the api's myself and have ago...

As for your suggestion, I'm not sure if it would be possible. Certainly the Messenger API doesn't allow such changes to be made, but maybe if someone could write directly to the right parts of the process space... I wouldn't get my hopes high though: if it is possible, it'd be very difficult.

Maybe you could rewrite the cached images

Maybe, but still won't be easy - how will you know which cached image is who's? And it'll also overwrite the image in convos.
