When i try to install Msgplus, i get a Fatal Error saying. "The Messenger Plus! Hook couldn't be installed properly on this system. Please re-install this software." It completes the installation and restarts MsN, but it's not running with MsN.

Even when i try and re-install, it comes up with that. I've refused the banner installation, and i've tried completely ending msgplus and MsN through the process list.

What can i do to install Msgplus??

You could try reinstalling MSN Messenger because if messenger plus can't hook it there might be a problem with MSN Messenger.

Download the latest version from http://messenger.msn.com and install.

Then install plus!

Nop, sorry dude, re-installing MsN didn't work either...

Any other suggestions from anyone please??

Could you post some details about your OS please.

And also, you probably are, but make sure you are downloading plus from the official site.

Well, it's worked before, it's just the new update that's a problem..

Anyway..
Windows XP
AMD 2700+
512Mb Ram
Nothing more you should need to know?

And yeah, i've tried with the Automatic Update thing, and downloading it from the actual site.

Did you try to reinstall Messenger Plus! (not MSN Messenger) ? my guess is that MsgPlus.exe cannot access its files. Make sure you install it somwhere with enough rights.

Try uninstalling Messegner Plus! first, but backup your settings.

Main Messenger windows> Plus> Preferences> Save/Load> Export.

Then reinstall plus again. Sorry, if this doesn't help, there's nothing else I could really suggest.

I don't think Chaz has access to the menu because Plus! just can't hook Messenger... if Plus! has behaved like this all the time, Chaz wouldn't have any preferences to save, right? Just uninstall

"HKCU\Software\Patchou\MsgPlus2\your@email.com\Preference"

from your registry.

then do a complete uninstall (deleting all reg keys etc), although like patchou said, it most likely is an access permission problem. Try installing it on an administrator account.

No, didn't work either. But thanks for telling me about the preferences thing.. I'm not going through the renaming contacts thing again.. Takes forever.

I'm the only account on my computer, but i'll try the admin soon.. When i remember the password.

Thanks for all your help guys. If this doesn't work, i'll try and find an old version of Msgplus and stick to that for now.
