I'm trying to setup an encrypted mail server with msgplus. The account settings work perfectly up until the point when I check off 'this server requires an encrypted connection', at which point the 'test settings' button returns the error 'The server couldn't be contacted. Please edit your settings or try again later.'

The exact same settings are working perfectly in Thunderbird, (yes, the port is correct) and I have two other encrypted pop3 accounts on a different server being checked by msgplus with excellent results.

Does anybody have any idea as to what could be causing this? I'd be happy to provide more details if anybody would like anything clarified.

What version of Windows are you using? I believe Plus! uses Windows' own SSL, which I think is only available in certain Windows versions, whereas Thunderbird uses its own implementation.

I'm running Windows XP Pro, with SP2.

Is it fully up to date?

Yes. (Windows, MSN Messenger, and MSG Plus)
