RE: No Bluetooth Devices icon in Control Panel/XP SP2
More info, please! As far as I know the reason you can't see Bluetooth Devices in the Control Panel is because you don't have one
What model is your bluetooth dongle, and what steps have you taken to install it?
O.P. RE: No Bluetooth Devices icon in Control Panel/XP SP2
I don't currently have any Bluetooth hardware installed in my PC, but I'm planning on buying a BT USB adapter to be able to make my PC BT ready to connect with my mobile phone. Anyways, in getting ready for this I checked the Control Panel and can't see a "Bluetooth Devices" icon. Is this because I have no BT hardware installed or is this icon supposed to show anyways?

I'm pretty sure that the difference is minimal between brands.
As for the range, I Have a class 1 device (100 metres) but my phone itself is class 2 (10 metres), the only reason I paid more for a greater range is that hopefully I will make use of this in future.

The Bluetooth icon will ONLY appear when you install you Bluetooth drivers. I recommend NOT to use the SP2 build-in drivers for Bluetooth, because they are limited in fuctions. Alternatives are i.E. BlueSoleil
