just for some time one of my contacts got really annoying with blue mountains winks that weight a hell....

it badly affects my bandwidth and makes a huge amount of bandwidth wasted because of these show off only winks ...

so for people who strictly needs to watch their bandwidth either for their montly quoted bandwidth limitation, connection speed issues or any other reason (like me) where we don't want to download unwanted winks or got really annoyed by some show off contacts but feelin to tough to block the contact, such a feature would be SUPER USEFULL

especially if MSG plus or any of its plugin can block the data from being recieved since it appears that the settings of messenger only opt to "not play" any winks while the actual winks are still downloaded to the computer

so if anyone can develop a blockers that not only stop winks being played but also block the actual wink data from being recieved for the sake of bandwidth saving this is a great help

MSN Messenger Options > Messages > Play winks automatically when they are recieved.

I don't think you can prevent it from downloading to your computer. It shouldn't take too much bandwidth from you.

Timothys wink blocker is for MSN Messenger 7.0.0205.

Ideally it would be nice if they worked this way, but AFAIK they send then allow you to play them.  As long as they don't become overly huge in filesize, then it shouldn't eat away much bandwidth.

If you want it to not download at all, then you have to question all 'push' elements in Messenger.  Emoticons, Display pictures, etc.  Do you want Messenger check if it's ok to send each of these before sending?  Currently the system doesn't work this way (like file downloads do) as these elements are quite small in file size.

problem is it weights a hell if someone send it in like... what... 15 in a row for a minute

u can always install a client that doesn't support winks, like 6.2

Sorry, but it seems that it's not possible, because msn sends the wink file when your friend sends the wink...
Your msn client, doesn't request it...
So, you should suggest it to Microsoft...
