I think there should be a tab on the headpage 'show new messages since my last visit' (Lists new threads and threads with new messages since your last visit, and also threads with messages you didn't ever read yet, going over a period of the last 40 threads posted on the whole forums globally) and 'Show new answers on my messages' (Shows the threads where messages are posted in a thread where you have posted before).
What do you think of this? I know a forum where they use this option standard and i use it all the time

I mean a 'link' above there is Welcome back, Exca; there you have view lastest posts, i think there might be a second link with, 'view lastest anwers on my posts'
