Ok just looking at the new beta (8.0.0328). In teh conversation window the search button changes to a darker version of the top section that you set. Orange by default.
They seem to have fixed the hide/show topbar icon too

RE: Windows Live Messenger (New official name for MSN Messenger 8.0)
I was giving advice to someone on a forum who wanted to play games at their school, because they were blocked, and pointed them to a proxy site.
It just so happened that this certain site(wont mention the name) offered Windows Live Messenger 8 BETA with the version 8.0.0.029. I dont want to download it, because i think its illegal, and its probably a virus.
Am i right? even if i am not, i dont want to download it because i am not the kind of person that uses illegal software (i have 16+ war based games all legal)

At the moment it's indeed so that there's a possibility of finding a copy of WL Messenger 8 beta with altered code. And so giving other persons the opportunity of getting into your system.
There is a leaked version of WL Messenger 8 beta and it is illegal to use it unless you are an official beta tester.

I found it somewhere (Won't tell.) But anyways, you need to get a patch or something that opens the servers allowing you to log in. It looks pretty cool in my opinion.
