O.P. DVD Burning
ok, so I have alot of DVDs. And since I recently got a dog, he's been a little obsessive with my DVD cabinet and I want to back up my DVDs before he can tear them up. Is there any programs I can get to back up my DVDs with my laptop?

RE: DVD Burning
if your laptop has a dvd burner, then usually it would come with a program to do the burning?

It does, but I think it only works with TV shows I tried countless time to back up a few DVDs but I don't believe it will work.

RE: DVD Burning
i THINK you're allowed to have a backup for your own personal use, however most burning programs arent able to copy dvd movies because of copy protection on the disks, there are a few programs out there that can get past the copy protection, but because of what else they can be used for, i dont think they are very legal

RE: DVD Burning
if you have nero, there is an option to copy exactly the dvd to a virgin dvd..
in roxio there is an option called cdcopier does the same thing as above ^^^^
you are absolutely able to have a copy legally.

RE: DVD Burning
There are a few programs out there that can do this for you. DVD Decryptor is one of them. Though since the program is not being developed any more, a couple of the newer protections cannot be ripped (you can use PSL files for that).

If the DVD is too large to fit on a normal 4.7gb (DVD-5) you can use programs such as DVD Shrink (for beginners) or DVD Rebuilder (for beginners and advanced, much better quality too!). Then just convert the DVD files to an iso/image and burn with ImgBurn.

I back up my DVDs all the time. Sometimes you just can't trust certain people with your dvds ;)

I just use CloneCD (it works with DVD's as well) combined with AnyDVD to get past the rights issue... works fine for me so far =)
Dare to dream.
