That's your LAN speed. 54Mbit is normal for a wireless network, but that doesn't mean your connection to the internet actually is 54mbit. It's just the speed you cummunicate at between your pc and your router/modem/accesspoint and other PCs in your local network. Your actual internet speed depends on what your ISP gives you (what you pay for).

Look... the speed of your wireless adapter is useless because you can't send information that fast over DSL or Cable. its just that your computer can send the information at that speed to your router not top the internet.

no no...it says download rates   if that was true then the computer on my cable modem would have a super slow speed.  it has 12mbps b.c its connected thru usb and the internet would be faster if that computer had usb 2 ports
