PSP is meant to check for digital signatures on the file, and only run it it the signature is valid. There is a hack in firmware v1.50 to get around this check.
There is also an exploit which will let you run limited invalid code on v2.00, but this exploit isn't good enough for most games though.
However, this exploit
is good enough to launch the installer for firmware v1.50, and put the older, homebrew able, firmware on your PSP (downgrade to v1.5).
There is the resources to do this available at PSP Updates. Other places probably also have them, but beware that there is a fake floating around, instead of putting v1.50 firmware on your PSP, the fake puts a bullshit firmware on your PSP that ruins it. The downgrader at PSP Updates wont do this (unless they have been taken over by evil hackers
).
