Yeah, but they can also serve as adverbs.

"We were driving fast", "worked hard", "went straight to him"...

In fact, a word can be an adjective or an adverb, it just depends on the sentence where it's placed in. ;)

In That line is straight., straight is an adjective because it tells more about that line. In She went straight to him., straight is an adverb because it tells more about how she went to him. Right?

There are plenty of adverbs not ending in "ly", off the top of my head:

"Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, There, Here"
