O.P. Windows Messenger Reset it's settings?
Well I truned my computer on this morning and windows messenger started in the background..it automatically signed in and it was in background. so I checked and the background setting had been reset to start in background..but it was not set to automatically sign in. Anyone know how this happened?

Go to start>Run. There type 'msconfig'. In the startup tab untick 'msnmsgr'. Restart ur comp. This should solve ur problem

That wont do it. The best way to 'kill' windows messenger is goto the root folder and rename it. Essentially since it cannot find it, it wont come up There is another way to uninstall it. If you would just search on the forum, you would find it. Its quite a big solution given by Cookie Revised
The rename one does the trick. Thats what i did since i dont use windows messenger

Although you may find that some programs, not many, but some microsoft programs sometimes need windows messenger to be running for certain things. I've got no idea why, but they do. I odn't remember which programs they were, but I've come across them

But when you rename it. You need to change the target at the Quick Launch Bar. To do so-
right click on wlm>properties and change the Target to the new one.

  That isnt a big deal
Wait, why would you rename the wlm icon ... they are independent. I told you to rename the Windows Messenger Folder not the Msn Messenger one (under which WLM is installed)
