I've looked and looked and searched the forums as best as I could. Is there a way to play a sound only when a new email is recieved?

On Windows Live Messenger is the Sounds and Alerts option where you can turn off sounds for certain notifications.

If you are using 7.5 or below im not exactly sure sorry.

On 7.5, I believe the options are very similar. There should be many check boxes. Uncheck the ones you dont need and there should be one thats says to notify you on a new email. Keep that one checked then it should be ok.

Go to controlpanel and choose Sounds/Audio Devices. Go to the second tab called "sounds", inthere you will see a list of events..scroll down to MSN Messenger, select those you don't want a sound for..choose [none] in the drop down list. If you done all of em click on OK.

You can go there directly through MSN messenger aswell. If i recall correctly the sound button is located in tools > options > alerts and sounds.
