O.P. Will the custom names feature from Plus! 3 return?

Hey, have you used the Custom names feature of WLM, it sucks.
That was the main reason why I used msgplus in old messenger versions, the feature to use a custom nickname and adding color also to see the real nickname of a contact.

Does that feature will be added in other Msgplus Live future version?   :S

Windows Live Messenger has a nickname feature. This is why it has been left out of Messenger Plus! Live.

Right click a contact, and click 'Add Nickname'. You can also insert colour codes, formatting codes, etc. :)

Edit: I see you editted your post...

It has been suggested by many people for the custom names feature to be added to Msg Plus! Live, but I doubt it will return. The WLM nickname feature does the job.

Patchou has said that he'll see how the WLM Team develops this feature of their software, and if he thinks he can do a better job, then he will add it back into Plus!

Fair enough, good news. :)

I'd love to see it back because I'd also like to see what my contacts have as their display names.  Having the custom names helps a lot in identifying who's who while being able to seeing everything. :)

There's a trick:

Enable tabbed chat to organise all chat windows into one. Then, your contact's real display name will show as the tab's title
if at least 2 chat tabs are present (see attachment).

So the trick is: if you wanna know the real name, do as if you'll chat with at least 2 friends (you need to type nothing, of course, if you don't want to disturb them), and find their real names.

The old version is much better, because it was possible to show you custom name AND the real name and the personal message.
And you could use different colors/styles for certain users.

I like custom names, but it is very annoying if I can't see the person's real name :(

And it was confined to the contact list, unlike when you have Nicknames set, when they replace the display name in convos too.
