What was the old method (using Messenger Plus on Messenger 7.5) of putting colours in your nickname?  i know it involved the $ symbol and it still works on WLM.....I only ask as it didn't shorten my name once the formatting had been applied (i like to have a long name) but using the new [c=4][/c] code takes off 7 chracters from my name

it's annoying me because i lost my old formatting after this server problem thingy

Go to:

Plus!> prefrences> customise > then select Use IRC style format codes

Or, if you want to type them manually, use Alt+0183 - ·$<colour>

The $-way was never supported, even if people used it.

RE Vikku, the $ way was supported, it is what was used by default when u typed:

/nick...

then did Ctrl+K to bring up the colours selector

What he means by 'unsupported' is that the general advice was to use a different method to enter the colour codes, namely the /nick and Ctrl+K method.
