The good news is that it won't become your default browser, you can choose to remove it, and if you want, you can even refuse to install it. Somewhat decent behaviour from Microsoft for once

I doubt it, since I believe IE7 uses the same cache as IE6 (which is configured in Control Panel after all), and Messenger uses the IE cache along with some of its own.
