I use Beta 2 as my main OS and, while it's rather slow and buggy it hasn't actually crashed on me yet. I've been told that Pre-RC1 is far quicker and more stable so I would assuing it would be alright to use as your main OS, probably not recommended though

i'd wait for atleast the non pre rc version, or better yet until vista is out completely. But it wud be better if u had a dualboot of xp and vista.

Mine finished downloading and i put it on a disc and just backing up all my crap as im formatting aswell..

i didnt get a product key with it, do i need one :s

No,
it asks you for your key and you just click no and then itll carry on. So you dont need a key yet ;)
