On WLM i am unable to view emoticons. When someone sends a message with a emoticon it just shows the shortcut key, not even a box. Could someone please tell me if there is a way to fix the problem

In an conversation window go to Tools and tick show emoticons . Also Go to Tools > Options > Messages and tick "Show Emoticons" and "Show Custom Emoticons".
That is what you need .
