O.P. Adobe Audition 1.5 Help
I've got a USB M-Audio Fast Track Interface/Sound Card
A RODE NT1-A Microphone (Mono Btw)
Adobe Audition 1.5

Now, as its a mono... it only records to the left channel, the right is completely blank, as seen below.

I know this is because my mic is a mono, and if i take each track I record individually into edit view and press F11, I can make it so its 50/50 L/R again....

But is there anyway I can do this automatically so as soon as I record, I playback in both speakers? I'm not bothered about extra HD space, its jus that I do playback track's straight away alot, and I can record upto 40 tracks in one session, so i dont wanna have to go to EVERY sing one, one at a time, equalling them out, before i even start to master.

Even if I have to upgrade to Adobe Audition 2 (which I've been considering btw....)

Anyway, please help :D

Thankyou, Inferno

I know, I asked my Music Tech teacher and he said you couldn't.

Does anyone know any other programs that you can do that with? I know people who have got a mono microphone and record straight into left and right

Can you expalin a little more in detail please? It's a mono microphone, I cant put a stereo XLR cable in, or it would hardly pick up anything.

The Interface is designed for recording, as a result, it doesnt have a jack as featured above, it only has a input for XLR cable what I'm using now. When I was using a jack like that, I had hiss because it was unbalanced, now I dont.

And I've tried all the recording options but it's not on there.

I have the answer your looking for my friend cos i've been searching for it for ages too :)

in audition go up to Options > Settings...
then click the top tab to Multitrack
then where it says,
Defaults:
Track Recording
theres a choice between mono or stereo...
change it to Mono
then close audition down then restart it and it should be fine :)
with any lead or anything :)

let me know if this helps :)

and if you know how to solve my problem?
it sounds simple but:
when im in the multitrack recorder...
when i record stuff i can't hear what im recording as im recording it :(
so if i have a guitar plugged into it i'll be playing as it records but i can't hear anything :(
but when i play it back it recorded it??

doyou know how to change this?

Cheers

hope i helped :)

Hey Rob,

thanks very much for the help, I solved this myself a while ago, but I apprechate the help as well man, the fact you signed up just to help me (I presume coz this is ur only post) is brillant as well, so thanks :D

As for your problem, have you got an interface or using ur built in sound card? you might need to check the mix between ur input and playback coz it sounds like you got playback on 100%

I don't know about Adobe Audition, but Audacity has an option called Software Playthrough in its audio I/O preferences.
