every time i restart my laptop i have a msg sayin

"messenger plus has not been installed properly on this system. please download and install the setup package of this program."

i have tried to delete it by goin to add/ remove programs but i wont allow me to delete it as the same msg pops up again and diverts me straight to the website. can ne 1 help as its really frustrating me. thanx.

have you actually tried installing it again, like the message asks?

yep. i tried dwnloading it again, and the msg still appears

Well you could delete all traces of it then it wont come up.

That doesn't make any sense. If you don't know about what you're talking about, don't know the answer or whatever, please don't post. It is nice you're trying to help. But guessing stuff will not help at all and will actually make it harder for those who do can help or do know about what they're talking about.

From the error message I know you have installed Messenger Plus! 3.

But what MSN Messenger version are you running? Messenger Plus! 3 is only compatible with MSN Messenger 7.x or lower, not with Windows Live Messenger (messenger 8.x).

1. Close everything related to Messenger. This includes tools, addons, and Messenger itself:
       - Close MSN Messenger:
           a) Right click Messenger's tray icon (the icon next to the clock) and choose Exit.
       - Close Messenger Plus!3:
           a) Open your Task Manager by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL.
           b) In the Processes tab find the process named msgplus.exe.
           c) Right click that process and choose "Kill process tree".
           d) Close your Task Manager.
           if you can't find the process, Plus! isn't started.
   
   
2. Clear your browser cache completely (remember to actually restart the browser afterwards as some browsers do require this).
   
   Clearing the cache properly is very important, so you don't end up using the file you have downloaded before (which may be corrupted).
   
   If you use MSIE you can follow the instructions given here:

3. In Windows Explorer, go to "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3" or whatever directory you used to install Messenger Plus!. Remove the entire directory manually.
   
   If Windows comes up with a message that it can't delete the directory or a file, then you haven't completely closed Messenger or Messenger Plus! and you must start from step 1 again.
   
   
4. Delete any other files you might have related to Messenger Plus!.
   
   
5. Redownload Messenger Plus!:
       If you use MSN Messenger 7.x or lower, you need Messenger Plus! 3.
       This can be downloaded from the official site: http://old.msgplus.net/download.php
   
       If you use Windows Live Messenger (messenger 8.x), you need Messenger Plus! Live.
       This can be downloaded from the official site: http://www.msgpluslive.net/download.php
   
   
6. Run the setup from Messenger Plus!
   
   
7. Tell us if the setup has been completed succesfully or not.
