O.P. Undecided  Satus won't change to idle
I searched the forum and it seems others have had this problem too, but I tried all the suggestions and nothing worked for me. So, I’m here to ask again…

I have the box checked that says “Show me as “Away” when I’m inactive for 5 minutes.” But when I am inactive for longer than that, it still doesn’t change my status. I still appear as “Online” which causes my friends to think  I’m ignoring them. I had the same problem with MSN 7.5, so I just used the option in msgplus!, which solved the problem. But msgplus! Live doesn’t have this option, so I know it’s a problem with WLM.

Anyone know what I can do to solve this problem?

I am using:

Windows Live Messenger
Version 8.0 [Build 8.0.0812.00]

With:

Messenger Plus! Live Version 4.01.0.240

Some programs running in the background can stop messenger from changing to idle. I believe iTunes is one of them, do you use that?

No, I do not have iTunes. The only programs I currently have running are WLM, Yahoo Messenger, PeerGuadian, Limewire, and ZoneAlarm.  Do you think any of those could be causing my problem?

Okay, so I shut down Limewire and ZoneAlarm, but the problem still persists.

Any other ideas?

Use CookieRevised's Idle on demand script?

Felu, he/she wants to go idle when he/she actually is idle :dodgy:

Lemitah, though you say you only have WLM, Yahoo Messenger, PeerGuadian, Limewire, and ZoneAlarm running, there are actually many, many more processes running in the background on your computer. Any of these can cause your idle not to work, but it is not advised to stop all of these.

I know but when he/she is leaving her computer (s)he might just put the status as idle?

The whole point of Idle is to be automatic. It comes in handy when you have to leave suddenly and don't have a chance to set the status...it only changes to idle if your status is Online.
