Can anyone tell me how you change the colour of your name. I know its alot of symbols but where do you get them from?

What version of Plus! are you using?

In Plus! Live, the colors are not just a bunch of symbols, they are much simpler. To get a colored name, simply go to the Messenger options and use the Format Codes button next to your name to change the style.

In Plus! 3, open a chat window with anybody and type "/nick". Then type a space and open the color box (Ctrl+K I believe). Type a new name and format it with the color box.

You're right -> CTRL+K exists in Plus!3 and it's for opening the color box...
Just adding that in Plus!3 the commands follows mIRC...
So you can use also:
"CTRL+B" for bold
"CTRL+ U" for Underline
"CTRL+ T" for Italics
"CTRL+ O" (if I well remember) it's for normal text
If there are more, sorry but I remembered this...
