Is it possible to create a script that allows to replace the picture displayed any contact with one of your choice?

Nope, and this for several reasons:

• these pictures are sent through the protocol and it would be difficult to intercept and change them.
  
• it'd beat the idea of a display picture.

A script could place a child window over it, of course, but there are so many things which affect the location of it causing that it will be a pain to place it right.
