i often switch off my monitor and listen to songs, but i find it annoying that i need to turn on my monitor every now and then to see if anyone (especially workmates) has open a chat window with me.

so, i would like to see if anyone has any ideas of getting notified if a msg has been received, without using the monitor..

hmmm... but those notifications requires the use of monitor
what i was asking was if it's possible to be notified by sounds (a continues one, like a beep every 5 seconds.)
and i didn't wanted to be notified of a chat window opened although i did say it.. xD, i actually only wanted to be notified when an actual msg has been received, thus a chat window opening.

Ah then you don't need a script for it...use the Custom Notifications so you can have a different sound for each person...but you most definately can use the same one. That is provided you definately want it once an conversation window with a message has been opened.

yeh, i played around with the custom notifications a while ago, but i noticed that the sound gets interrupted if another notification comes on.

for example, at 8:00:01 a contact sents me a msg, custom noti plays. but at 8:00:02 a different contact goes offline, custom noti plays and overrides the msg one...

so i was thinking if a script or another way can solve this conflict.

probably wouldn't make a difference...perhaps a scripter might know a bit more than me but I don't think it makes a difference, most probably a limitation...and if you keep 1 person 1 song theory...that might also be a way to combat that.

I have tried a few things with sound notifications a while ago and you can only have one at a time like you have experienced.  This is a limitation and the best solution is to keep your sounds short I'm sorry to say.

Why not use the sound AND the flashing of LEDs? I think there is a script for it on here. I know StuffPlug3 has it though it's a bit buggy at the moment.

this would only be good when you have the screen off / not using the computer (but still at the computer) because if you are typing and have caps lock flash... i will make your text Go LikE tHIs...

also this script can make a beeping sound when you get a message

omg, this is the best option availiable. this way i can turn off my speakers too xD, and finally use my keyboard leds for some goods.
