Not really children books as I hate children books, but I liked The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger and 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick & Arthur C. Clarke :P

Plus Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz- the film came out not long ago too, though I never went to see it.

Hmm, I thought of some more.
Anything by Roald Dahl or Enid Blyton. The Hardy Boys series. Hmm, what else? I didn't really read many child-esque books, I've always preferred classical literature. Beatrix Potter is cute reading, I suppose. Another vote for Eragon - loved it (even though I discovered it when I was 22, hah).
