does anybody know where i can download a free program that i can take screenshots with. and it needs to work with windows vista.

You can use the tool that already is in Vista, or you can press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, and paste it into Paint, Photoshop, etc.

Ctrl + PrtSc

works wonders

where in vista is the program to make screenshots?

and please don't say it's the printscreen button on the keyboard

Try FastStone Capture... Does work with Vista, but I don't know if it catches the transparency of the window properly.

But then again... If you just want a normal screenshot and do not want to isolate any objects in your screen, simply use Print Screen.
