I have Live Messenger 8.1 installed and from what I understand it should have roaming display pictures. I have tried it but it doesn't seem to work for me, I don't see my display pictures on 'the other computer' in Live Messenger.

What exactly is supposed to happen? Should I see all my display pics in Tools/Change Display Picture on the other computer, or just the one that I was displaying when I last signed out of LM on my computer that has the display pic on it's hard drive?

Does anyone have any idea why roaming display pics aren't working for me? I don't know what possible reasons can be, perhaps someone here can tell me more about it. I have tried it on my laptop with a wireless connection btw but I guess that that shouldn't be the cause?

Did you tick it?

Yes it was ticked by default (on both installations) and I didn't change it.

Are you sure its ticked on both computers.., and if so, do they have the same version of wlm?

Are you using vista or xp?

I just tested it again and it's working now. I didn't change any settings or anything. I am on XP. Maybe there was a temporary server problem or something when it didn't work for me, I'm not sure. I think that the personal message is also roaming now in 8.1. I use the song info from media player as personal message and I just noticed that that isn't roaming. But I guess that makes sense, since I'm not playing that song on the other computer.

I also noticed in Live Messenger that when I click an offline contact in my contact list, that I can still see his/her display pic. I'm wondering; is the pic you see for an offline contact alway the last pic that the person was displaying before he/she went offline?

It should...but there was a period of time that the display pictures of your contacts were mixed up, and I'm not sure if that's fixed yet.
