O.P. Huh?  how to dual boot linux?
So, I have just finished installing Fedora core 6 by way of a recovery CD and an image of the install disk, onto a clean partition on a second hard disk. I still have XP Pro SP2 installed on the first disk, but I need to figure out how to dual boot the two. Yes, I have searched, but I didn't really make any sense of the instructions. It seems that I have to use 'GRUB'?

What I need is some dummied down instructions for configuring this... I know how to do any disk management through Windows, but Linux is completely new to me.

Help please?

EDIT: I should mention that XP is on hda1 and Fedora is on sda2 (It's an external USB drive)

AFAIK most distros come with GRUB or LILO pre-installed, well, they have to, every OS needs a bootloader. :zippy:
f you boot from your errr USB? (:s) the bootloader from Fedore (usually grub or lilo) will appear. I've used distros whit grub and lilo, and both of them finds Windows, so in general you wouldn't have to do anything.

I prefer LILO, probably because I've never used GRUB. :)

I tried lilo when I used Zenwalk (for a couple of minutes... 8-)) and it was quite nice. However GRUB stage2 is quite leet, and very customizable. I can't say anything on the LILO part since I barely tried it. :P

Both seems quite good, so it's up for MeEtc. :P
If you don't use USB, and instead uses harddrives, you can probably change the harddrive to boot in your bios.
If you got a specific bios which supports boot from USB drive, that would work as well.. However that's not common.

O.P. RE: how to dual boot linux?
I found out my problem. I didn't install GRUB via the Fedora install, which I found out how to do correctly now.  I'm gonna have the bootloader put on sector 1 of the USB drive, then copy it out and put it as a file on the C: drive.

Yes, my BIOS does support booting from a USB device.

My only problem now is that whenever I go to re-install Fedora, the installation freezes while the files are being copied.
I'll get this thing working yet! :@

(I'm using steps similar to those in the first link above)

I'd just recommend you to installed the bootlader as root or MBR... 8-) While installing Fedora that is. :)

I FINALLY installed it correctly without having it crash. My next problem is getting a driver for my wireless card.

ndiswrapper!

Erm. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=29659

I advise you to download the driver from the producer, then use wine to extract it. :)

(ndiswrapper is a driver that uses windows drivers on linux)
