Hi,

first i wanna say that i know that this problem has been discusted some times but it has never been REALLY solved.

The problem is that if you want to add a picture a message appears.
"The file you selected is not a valid image file. Please choose another file"

or in german "Das ausgewählte Bild ist keine gültige Bilddatei. Wählen sie eine andere Datei aus."

The problem is not based on the size neither the file extension of the image.

To reinstall the messenger doesn't work...
If you want to activate the option "show my display picture and allow others to see it" again in the options it doesn't works either. It's very strange.

You can't add emoticons or backrounds.

The only way to repair it till if found out know was to set up the whole computer again. 

Others swear that it works if you delete EVERYTHING which has something with that messenger in common. But how am I able to clear everthing from the registry?

If somebody knows how to clear the registry please post.

Now what i expect here is a clear answer even for fools to unterstand.

I hope somebody has an idea for me and the people who got that problem.

I think it's because this help is made for Messenger 8.0

There's a search feature in the registry editor.
