I notice that Windows Live Messenger does not beep or highlight my taskbar when my friends initiate to send me a file. Does anyone encounter this?

I get it too. I think it's a known bug.

I usually send a message like "I'm sending you this..." after I've sent a file, so people know I'm sending them something.

I still get a toast with "xxx is sending you yyy.ext" if I don't have a conversation open with that person, however.

So you made it auto that "send a message like "I'm sending you this..." after I've sent a file"?

How about on our receiving side? Anyway to make a script temporary to prompt us?

There's a couple of message types that don't notify you correctly, it's a known bug.

Is there a way a simple script can be made to temporary resolve this issue? Like maybe auto "you have a file waiting" message when someone sends me a file?

I don't believe that is possible, as there is no event in the documentation that alerts when a file has been sent .

Awww then I guess we have to just wait for a release patch
