if you go Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Under "Hidden files and folders" ensure "show hidden files and folders" is selected.

And if the error still comes up without messenger plus! installed, report it to microsoft through http://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlm...byemail&ct=eformts
