O.P. Huh?  LCD Monitor Problem
I have this Hurricane 17" Flat panel monitor and it sometimes switches from perfect to like safe mode display back and fort. Do you think the monitor is faulty and needs to be thrown out the window or could this be corrected? Thanks. (Y) Hi all...

Has it always done this?
Do you have a warranty?
Next time, buy a monitor with a well-know brand.

No it wasn't like this at first, i realized this when i first installed the Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 software. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I tried taking a screen shot but the result came out normal when i viewed it on my laptop. Yes I do have warrantee.

safe mode display?
was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.

I mean the screen changes to a colour that looks like safe mode.

I think what he meant was, some cards have small frame buffers that don't allow 24 bit colour at high res with some settings. Probably not the issue though.

I'm pretty certain this is not a monitor problem, so you can hang on to that. At worst, it's your graphics card. Seems it's having some problem with the normal graphics channel and reverting back the the legacy VGA channel. If the problem is not in the drivers and you've got a spare graphics card lying around, give it a try. Your card is may be under warranty, so if this is the problem, be sure to look into that.
