My girlfriend just downloaded msn version 8; i am still on 7.5. Anyone have any idea why can neither of us can see the chat history any more? Or what we do about it? Thanks!!!

Upgrading/downgrading Messenger shouldn't affect the message history.

The message history is stored in My Received Folder > [name] > History

Example.. C:\Documents and Settings\CHRIS\My Documents\My Received Files\chris4158979229\History

So check if they are there or not.

Thanks very much Chris... that's where we used to find our msn history... since the upgrade, it just doesn't appear any more on either of our computers. no new history at all (the previous 7.5 stuff is still all there) unless my girlfriend sends me offline messages (which she can do on 8.0 and i can't on 7.5!)

i have an other problem:
i had msn messenger (and the old messenger plus) till february.
at this time i had a  chat history in the folder "received files"
but in february i downloaded the windows live messenger (and the new messenger plus).
and now i have the history in an other folder (called "aufzeichnungen", german). and there is only the history since february. and in "received files" there is no history anymore.
where can i find the old history now?

What folder does it say they are saved to?

Maybe the history wasn't saved before February? You can try searching (Start > Search) for a particular e-mail address? Do you have Plus! chat logs enabled (Usually My Documents > My Chat Logs)?

it says, that it doesn't save it anywhere.
but i think, that it was saved by msg plus!
and it was saved before february, it was saved in received files, i think.
but now, it is deleted, or moved, or something else.

If that option, what Chris4 showed, is grayed out you simply need to enable it again and set the folder to the folder you whish to store your chat logs in. Also, that is not Messenger Plus! related at all; it is the chat logging from Windows Live Messenger.

Messenger Plus! itself can also create chat logs and the prinicple is the same as for Windows Live Messenger. In the Plus! preferences, simply check if chat logging is enabled and where the logs are saved: Plus! > Prefereces > Conversations > Chat Logging > ...
