I have a friend who knows when my status is set to appear off line, because when I usually set my status to it, he sends me messages saying "Why are you appearing off line?" So is there a way to see those who have their status set to appear offline?
no...what your friend could be doing is sending offline messages when you're not actually signed in and you get them when you sign in, regardless of your status.

your friend is just messing with you
they may have learnt you get freaked out by it so they do it whenever you go offline to test you. Just block'em when you appear offline, or just ignore them
