A few of you are using Gmail so much that you're running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we're announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage
So, Gmail has jumped into the 3GB range, trailing in 3rd place so far in terms of storage behind Windows Live Hotmail (5GB) and Yahoo Mail (Unlimited Storage). I personally don't understand how someone could be storing close to 3GB of email messages in the what, 3 or so years that Gmail has been operating. I'm only using 7%.

RE: Gmail now has 3GB of Storage!
I'm surprised "GMail Drive" isn't against the GMail terms of service. O_o
It seems like a really hackish and unreliable way to back up large files though... the max attachment size is 20 MB, and some users have had their accounts temporarily disabled for uploading too much.

Last time I checked it was 10 MB. I backup all my projects and stuff to my GMail account, but if they're too big, I'll split them up. It's not really unreliable, it works.
