Perhaps wait for Boxing Day, when your local technology store could have huge rebated on items!

I remember at Future Shop last year they had a lot of Acer monitors on sale.

 RE: 24" Widescreen monitor
clicky
a 2 min search has found 3 24 inch widescreen monitors all around £250

also try pcworld, misco, argos, even somewhere like tesco nowadays probably

or if you really wanna spread your chances, use Kelkoo, it searches hundreds of online stores for what you want

the internet is all powerful

I think the Samsung 245B is a good one, just look for reviews and check for yourself. I'm sure there are reviews comparing several models

I have the Dell 2407WFP which is damn nice, might be a bit over your budget but it's good.

 RE: 24" Widescreen monitor
Since the whole Gamespot Jeff deal, I take all CNET reviews with a  grain of salt, but most monitors will perform the same, glossy face are the only real difference I see today, which appears to give more vibrant colours but some will be a real bitch in light conditions with reflections
