@DJDannyP: Try finding pics with blank backgrounds or solid colours and usic the magic wand tool. It works good enough for me most of the time

yeah, i have tried that, but often that leaves worse edges than cutting myself...and those pictures are a lot harder to find at a decent quality and with the shots i want

Yeah, that's what I imagined you'd do, didn't realize you had more than 2 images being used

yeah you see the 4 images for the bottom are yellow the 4 images for the top are blue so they have to be in seperate resgroups. i tried making the images transparent and implementing it but it turns the images white so clearly in the case of my skin i cannot give an option for wordwheel to be top or bottom im forcing users to have it at the bottom as a result.

hi guys i tried this whole image compression thingy i got y skinpack size down from 5.02 megabytes to 2.81 megabytes bare in mind i also took out so no longer used files aswell. upon doing this i discovered my background that had been compressed look awful, where the tree background in christmas theme used to show the whole tree from pot to star it now only showed top half of the tree this made things look terrible and detracts from the intended design.

i was forced to replaced the compressed backgrounds with the originals my skinpack is now 4.33 megabytes. menthix can i ask that even though the size of my skinpack is pretty big that despite however large it gets you wont compress the images as i fear that users will end up getting poor quality backgrounds as a result.

Seems to happen only with this skin, if I close the contact list window and then re-open it, my nickname and personal message becomes nothing...as the screenshots below show...

Not too sure where to start with solving it .  I'll take a look thru the style/definition files for the contact list window and see if i can find anything glaring.....but hopefully a more experienced skinner can help!

Thanks for your suggestions woman-wise.  I've added all that i'm going to for version 1.1 (i think), but these will certainly be kept in mind for 1.2...although you may be surprised depending on what i decide/get round to.

the reason this happens is because you have removed an element or button that wlm does not allow to be removed. This also happens when you move a certain element or button out of its allowed boundaries.

okay, after a lot of messing around i've found the problem

it will affect a LOT of people's skins

it's to do with removing taskbar buttons.  when any taskbar button is removed that will happen if the window is closed and then opened again.

it's not just my skin, i've been testing with evo too and i think the screenshot speaks for itself.

it's because the elements are just being removed rather than hidden.

i'm guessing a solution would be to add in a "layoutpos=none" tag for when they're hidden, but i don't know for sure.  gonna test it a bit now, unless someone beats me to a solution

edit: incidentally, the correct view is restored by changing status, but this is by no means a permanent fix

From what I've done it's just the sharing folders button. I've tried changing the cmdid and icon/text but that doesn't seem to work either

yeah, it does just seem to be the sharing folder one

i tried adding layoutpos=none and changing all the info to match up with the branded button (which is hidden on purpose) and it still didn't work

there's gotta be a way round it!
