i just installed windows live messenger 8.5 and messenger plus 4.5 and now whenever i log onto msn..i can see the colours in my msn name and all...but then when i chat to my friends...the colours disappear! but i dont see the codes and stuff. my name's just..blank..and has all these spaces where the codes are suppose to be!!

do any of you have these problems? or know how to fix it? ><"

What code are you using for your screenname?

Post it here and it might give us a clue as to what's happening

You may have to use the "/noparse" tag in here to prevent the code being interpreted

i just used that exact code there, copied from your original post and had no problems with it and have just copied and pasted from my msn back into here.

do you have all the codes enabled in Messenger Plus preferences?

yah..all my code thingys are enabled =\
here..i print screeened my convo -points below-
i tried logging in on my brothers computer and it didnt work either =(

Hmm, I just tried it and i can't reproduce that error

The codes showed up correctly both in the contact list, the display name field and during a conversation

Do you have any patches installed other than Mesenger Plus Live?

you know how they have ads at the bottom of conversations? well there was one that was like, "install the new windows live messenger 8.5" or something..so ai clicked it and installed it =\

then my colours just showed codes...so my brother told me to install the mesenger plus 4.5
so ai did...

MattyRid's problem: Colour has decided not to show up... and His solution to the problem. It is simple, delete yourself from your lists completely. (And you may need to clear your contacts cache: To do so, go Messenger Options>Security>Tick this option "This is a shared computer, don't store my address book, personal message and display picture here". Then signout and resignin. Then untick that option again for fast signing in next times.
