vmware connect through proxy

O.P. vmware connect through proxy
I want to test port fowarding on my router. so I need an external ip address prefrablay used by vmware how do I manage this

What do you mean by external IP address? you want the OS on VMware to have its own IP from the router, or you want an ip from whatever gives the router its IP?

For the first, just set VMware's network settings to bridged. The second is impossible. Just use a proxy. Or get someone else to test it for you.

yeah that's the plan to use a proxy for vmware & all out going connections go through the proxy. for example my proxy ip might be 255.245.6.27 so I want to beable to ping 222.112.22.232 from my vm-machine. so the connections it makes have to go through the router.

I did it before but it only worked with ie after configering it propley
