Thanks all, I solved this one by scheduling my PC to shutdown at the end of the day using scheduled tasks in windows. You just run shutdown.exe which can be found in system 32 with a few commands. Happy days.

And Dane, yes you are right I should but if you can't take a cheeky bit of time at the end of the day while the boss is away, life would be a little boring. Plus I had halo 3 to go home and play. I was also in 30 minutes early as I am everyday so I feel less guilt!

It's a good point, but I'm sure I could come up with an excuse. I don't do this thing all the time, just thought about it yesterday and my brain started ticking.

lol, you can also do this:
1) Go to your desktop, right click, New then shortcut
2)Under ' Type the location of item' type in
"shutdown -s -t "[insert time here in milliseconds]" -c "[Insert a note here]"
3)soo yep, that's about it. If you need to disable it, then go to start, run, and type in "shutdown -a"

Yep that's about the size of it I'd use -f too, this forces anything that's open to close down. If you use -t 00 that close it down straight away, just use the scheduled tasks that you get with windows. That way you can always have the job there, schedule for every day of the week if you want to.

Set an auto-response for if your boss talks to you just saying "Too busy working to reply" etc
