I have WLM 8.5 and whatever the latest version of WLMail is. It's set up to use two emails, an @live.com one and an @hotmail.com one. The @live.com one is the default. I use the @hotmail.com one on msn mostly, and it's the email most of my things are signed up to - so generally it's going to get a lot more email. When I get a new email or want to click the button open your email inbox in WLM, on the @hotmail.com account it opens it in a web browser, but on the @live.com one it promptly opens it up in WLMail.

Is there any way to make the @hotmail.com one open in  WLMail too? Does the @live.com one only work because it is set to the default? Or is it because only @live.com* accounts can open in WLMail?

my @hotmail.com opens with WLMail.

i think you need to add your hotmail account in the program itself

It is added - I've got two accounts on WLMail, a @live.com one and a @hotmail.com one.

EDIT: I just tried making @hotmail.com account the default email. No success.

Messenger opens WL Mail if the account which is currently signed in it is set to sign in WL Mail as well. You can change the address which WL Mail will sign in while being started from WL Mail's Options>Connection>"Sign in" or "Sign in with another ID". Or you can completely "Stop signing-in" which will lead Messenger open all emails in internet explorer.

So you must prefer one of your two accounts to open WL Mail from Messenger. But keep in mind that signing in WL Mail connects it to the Messenger which is signed in with the same account so you can see statuses of your contacts of that account within WL Mail, moreover all the contacts belonging to that account will be imported and it provides some Windows Live Spaces integration.

Also, configuring email accounts and/or making them default have nothing to do with all of these.
