Messages getting cut short

O.P. Messages getting cut short
Sometimes my messages are cut short.

For example..

Chris says:
Hello John
John says:
Hell?
Chris says:
What?
John says:
You just said "Hell"

They just see "Hell" rather than "Hello John".

It's happened about 5 times in the past few days, randomly.

Any ideas?
