O.P. I changed my C: Drive to some extent...
I extracted the new Zune software into the C: root.. and it changed the C: drive...

I'm pretty sure it screwed up my sound too, because it's not working suspiciously out of nowhere..

How can I rectify the situation?

Ye system restore would probably be your best bet. and just out of curiosity, does the zune software work?

My guess is that there is a file named autorun.ini sitting in the root of the C: drive. If it exists, delete it. If you can't access the drive, try via command prompt.
