AFAIK, WLM uses IE preferences... if IE goes through proxy, so does WLM; if IE is working offline, WLM will not connect... you get the idea...

If you'd actually looked at the thread I linked you to it is asking essentially the same question....that is how to connect WLM to the internet ignoring IE's settings.

I was trying to avoid two threads on the same subject.

Also, why would you want to connect without any relation to IE?  It just makes it easier having the connection settings streamlined through one application rather than having different settings for both applications when in reality they will both need the same setting to connect anyway
