There are a lot of questions going around how to install the new WLM on Windows XP 64bit and/or Windows Server 2003.

The Official Windows Live Installer doesn't work with Server 2003 and XP 64bit, and Microsoft says the WLM build isn't compatible with these OS'es, They are wrong!

You need 3 things from the Windows Live Installer:

Messenger.msi
Contacts.msi
Wlc.msi

Firstly install the Messenger.msi, after that the Wlc.msi and Contacts.msi.

What error message did you get then?
You can uninstall with right clicking on the msi and then press uninstall.

This application has failed to start becuse the application in incorrect.
reinstall the application may fix this problem.
