O.P. Turning off contact cards
Ok well, I installed the mess patch giving the the ability to open the display picture menu by clicking on the display picture, among other things. It's a handy option for quickly changing display pictures.

I've run into one problem though. Clicking on my display picture in a chat window still opens my contact card as well as my display picture menu.

It's an annoyance. I never really liked the contact cards anyways. I find them pretty useless.

I was wondering if there was a way to disable them. A patch, script, or maybe a registry key that needs editing. I just want contact cards gone.

Please help me Obi Wan Kenobi... (I'm not even a star wars fan :S)

I also hate them and find them pointless. If there is a way to disable them i would also be interested :) I don't think a script can do this nor registry edit but a skin may have a chance :P
No longer here.

The best way to do this is with a skin

simply modify the cmdid of the display picture from the one that opens the contact card to the one that opens the display picture chooser

for more information on finding cmdids read here

Unfortunately, I lack the skill to make a skin. Unless I can simply edit the necessary code in the default skin somehow.

If you're talking about the chat window DP, it's not possible afaik. I've tried. There doesn't appear to be a cmdid for it (WLM must control it directly), but I'll take another look.

EDIT: I opened the 920 definition (and style just in case) and searched for "cmdid", no go :/

I guess the next best thing would be to change the dropdown button's cmdid to the dp changer one *-)

In addition to what ryxdp said, if it was possible by editing the UI Files, it would be possible for StuffPlug to disable them... They have obviously settled for it as a limitation as there is no CmdID to edit
