Keep menu bar open

O.P. Keep menu bar open
How do I keep the menu bar open by default that pops up when you press alt? If I press alt, maximize and minimize it stays until I close the window or contact list.

Press the little options button then right down the bottom click "Show the menu bar." Might be in a different place in 8.5 but its there somewhere.
