I recently downloaded the new MSN 9.0 Beta and don't like it so I've uninstalled and and tried to get MSn 8.5 back (I think it's 8.5), but I can't seem to find it anywhere.. does anyone have a link as to where I can download this?

Because I can't see custom emotes. I see when other people use custom emotes but when I use them I just see the command in both the typing box and actual convo window. I've checked the options and ticked "make custom emotes visible" or whatever it says so that can't be the problem.

Also, I've noticed that (because my friend also has the new 9.0 beta) when I open up a window with her, the top of my msn (which was a grey colour) changes to the colour/skin which she's chosen to use on her main contact section. It's the same with her as well, she can see the grey colour in her contact window rather than her own colour. I've tried changing the colour back to the one I want but it keeps changing back to her colour.

I hope that makes sense

That isn't a bug.

It's intentional behaviour and part of the point of scenes.....so that each person's window is individual (if they want it to be).

The custom emoticon thing is a bug, but it's already fixed for the next version of WLM 9/14 (whether it be another beta or a final version)

Also, I doubt that the final release of WLM 9/14 will be before the new year

I have seen somewhere that the release date is on the 10th of February.

i dont think it'd be that far... but we'll wait an see when it exactly comes out ..official Beta testers of WLM9 should have some idea..

Nope, we know nothing more than most others in this topic .


December 1st is what Microsoft mentioned in a mail as the startdate of Wave 3 rollout, but the rollout is in stages. It has also been said by Microsoft sources that the entire wave 3 rollout wont be complete before the end of the year. Services are probably the first to hit, applications like Messenger could be much later.

February 10 as a releasedate is a rumor based on a post from our very own Mr. Kay.

I guess the truth is probably somewhere between those two dates. Also, they could release the new Messenger build in the next few weeks but not label it the final version yet (another public beta).
