O.P. Uninstalling Windows Live
Hey everyone. So I wanted to add messenger plus, but when i installed it, it didn't work for some reason. So after reading rolando's sticky i went to uninstall my window live....but now im stuck. I went to change/remove programs and there was no windows live program there...not even close to it. So i decided to take EVRYTHING related to windows live off of my computer. I cant find a single file that has to do with it. However, when I went to install the newest version of windows live, it said that messenger was still on my computer, and won't let me install it now. Can somebody help me fix this? Oh and if it helps, I have windows vista

Thanks

Try using ZapMessenger to remove all traces of WLM and then try running the installer again

I believe that it's called Windows Live Essentials in the uninstall window. You could also try  Zap Messenger, which is a tool to remove all components of Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger. Zap Messenger can be downloaded from http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/zapmsngr.asp

RE: Uninstalling Windows Live
I have a better solution.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/3c6x0u

Inside the .zip are a few files from Microsoft, one of which I named "Clean Up Application.exe".

Use that application, and remove everything related to Windows Live (Dont remove other stuff!), one by one.

Then, restart, and then find yourself an installer for the version of messenger you like to have.
